Value of our Employees (Part 1)

DW Garden Transformations takes great pride in providing great service to its clients, including those who are strata complexes and commercial spaces.

One of the advantages we have as a company is how we treat our employees. First we give our employees a decent wage. Our entry wages are fair, and we give raises as an incentive for their work. We believe in providing a living wage so that our employees will not need to look for work elsewhere or think they would have a “divided loyalty” to another company. We want to ensure that they are committed to us 100%.

Another advantage we have is our leadership style. We believe in “servant leadership.” This is what we’ve learned from our Christian faith. It is a style where we primarily lead by example, and use empowering language to offer advice, give direction, and speak positively in “teachable moments” as they arise.

When a good job is done, whether it is a single job, the workday, or a big project, we acknowledge it to our employees. We let them know how much we appreciate their personal work ethic, integrity, and commitment to the job at hand. When there are challenges to such aspects of their work ethic, we will pull them aside privately and coach them through each step until the desired level and quality of work is achieved. It is not in our DNA to belittle or demean people in front of others.

We use patience as another teaching tool. This is because we know, especially when we have new employees onboard, it takes time for systems being taught to click in and efficiencies to arise. We know that over time, the newly hired employee will improve and we will give incentives to them for their improvement, which benefits our clients directly.
